HOW DOES YOUR OPENING TITLE SEQUENCE USE, DEVELOP OR CHALLENGE FORMS AND CONVENTIONS OF REAL MEDIA PRODUCTS?
In our OTS we looked at 4 different OTS in the film industry. Looking at these successful films we based out zombie OTS around these films because this is what give us a successful opening title sequence.
Our opening title sequences used the usual known conventions of using a blonde vulnerable female as a victim. we did this because everyone knows that in a horror film the usual victim is a blonde powerless female. we also used the scientists to represent the evil genius who are always behind the zombie experiment so that they are able to access some form of information. This links us back to clovers theory which is the final girl theory where it shows the victim at the end of the opening title sequence. It also links to Tudors horror theory as it shows the strength and independence instead of the stereotype of vulnerable and weak which is significant not the modern day audience.

Just like any film that has ever been made the first thing that we have put in to our OTS is out distribution company.
Then following the distribution company we have put our production company logo and then the name of the film followed by the rest of the titles.
After the distribution company and the production company we have put static sound with a broad cast interruption sign which will instantly watch the audience eye and make them look at the OTS. this follows with a voice over the top telling them to pay attention because the nation is in crises. we have also put the static video in because it creates tension because no body knows whats going on. we have got our
In our OTS we have used a cold ice forest to films because there are a loot of horror films that are set i the forest. This is good because most horror films that are filmed in the forest have a lot of jump scares. we have taken inspiration from the film dead snow. this is a zombie films where there was a scene where people are running through the forest with zombies chasing them. we havent taken does this completely but we have just took the idea of the cold ice Forrest because it will make tension and it will be good for the opening setting.
Inspiration For OTS
A lot of different films inspired our OTS. one of them was this film called the lazarus affect. There is a part in the trailer where it has a put a close up of her face hen she id is in bed. this gave us the idea of dping a close up shot of the females face waking up in out OTS.
For this we have take taken inspiration from the 3rd purge trailer where at the start of the trailer there are fast changes in time with the music. we did this mostly all of the way through our OTS which creates suspense and makes the audience attached to the what they are watching.
We used this clip at the start of out OTS which was really good because it creates the setting for our hole kidnapping scene. we took our inspiration from wrong turn left for dead where in there trailer right at the start they have a clip of the hole forrest. both of these chips show that the setting is in a place where no one can help the.
In the trailer for the forest there is a clip of people walking through the forest. We took this idea and then we got our female character to walk through a cold forest to scare the audience ad they think something is going to happen to her.
This is a clip out of the new wrong turn 6 trailer and it is of someones foot walking across the room. When watching this it was really powerful because nobody knows who it is or what is going to happen so we put this in out OTS so people will be scared and not knowing whats happening.
We used this clip at the start of our OTS which was good because it was the start of the kidnapping scene where a blonde was walking through the forest.
In wrong turn there is a clip of a abandoned car. we also wanted to get a clip of an abandoned car as it help us create our setting and it makes the girl look abandoned herself ad that she has no one to help her.
For this shot in our OTS we have used an over the shoulder shot when the female character walks past the window and then the male walks in to the shot. we got this idea when we saw a clit from insidious when it has a over the shoulder shot of the man looking at the demon. we wanted to make this a little different so instead of putting the camera in front of the actors we put it behind them to make it seem as she's being hunted.
We used a clip in our OTS where a female character walks past and then the male character walked out of the house watching her. we took our inspiration from paranormal activity 2 where there was a ghost stood in the door. this made the scene much more scary as it makes people excited for whats going to happen next.
In the saw trailer there is a part where its showing the lights on the roof. this gave us the idea of using a flickering light when the girl is waking up. this creates tension as it lets the audience know that something bad is about to happen.
In our OTS we have used a clip like the one in the closer to god trailer where they have a scientist walking town a lonely corridor. we have taken this but we have added another person which makes the audience feel like they are up to something.
In the hills have eyes trailer there is a scene where the man picks the woman up aggressively. This have us the inspiration on getting the male in our OTS to pick the female up and through her against the wall.
