Looking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression of making your full product?
Preliminary Task |
Final OTS - |
This is a comparison from where we started with filming in the course and to where we ended filming our final video which was the opening title sequence. Our full product was a lot better and shows that we have made a lot of progress because we managed to get to a better location which suits the genre, our prelim video was filmed in the school so it did not really look good because what we was doing didn't really suit the location so we improved that in our final product by going to the forest to go with the genre. In our prelim we did not have any production names which means the video doesn't look professional. In our final product which was a opening title sequence, we made our own production companies and put them at the start which shows who did the organisation of the film and funding the project. No sound was put in or edited in our prelim which made it a bit boring which isn't going to get us an audience.
Here we have compared our prelim to our OTS:
Prelim |
OTS |
Mid shot is the prelim which showed very obviously the school as the set and casual clothing. This shot was done free handed without a tripod.
|
Long shot in the OTS which is similar to the prelim shot. We used the same location (School) but used white lab coats to signify the experiments. The OTS was shot using a tripod so there is also a difference in the way its shot as well.
|
Extreme Long shot in the prelim is used to show Adam walking in comparison to the OTS. He wears casual clothing and is still set in a school. In this shot they use high key lighting to show that it is just a normal day. We only used two males in our prelim so it does not really appeal to our wider audience.
|
Long shot is used in the OTS to show Charlotte walking in the forest in comparison to the prelim. She wears casual clothing as well but it is not set in the school. In this shot they use high key lighting to show a normal day but something will go horribly wrong. We also changed the casting from a male in the prelim to a female in the OTS to target more of our target audience.
|
Low angle shot is showing a low key and high key lighting and the houses in the background. the lighting was not particularly considered when it came to thew representation of certain characters. Therefore most of the lighting was high key because it was sunny outside at the time.
|
Low angle shot is in the forest and low key lighting was used in the forest. This was specifically chosen because of the zombies that were in the shot. We wanted to ensure that the zombies were sinister in appearance. The darker lighting and twisted trees in the forest assisted in making our set appear scarier than usual.

Overall this told us that we have really improve since the prelim in the beginning of the year. Our skills have improved throughout the year and we have learned that these things highlighted in our Prelim and OTS is crucial to make sure that our final product is a success.
